D.R.A.M. Takes Over The Summer 2015
Arguably one of the summer hits, D.R.A.M. (Does.Real.Ass.Music) brings us “Cha Cha” a song that will make you feel good! This song has been around for several months it was actually released back in September and started gaining momentum with underground fans. May is when the track started gaining some serious attention when Beyonce posted a video of herself dancing – in the video D.R.A.M.’s “Cha Cha” can be heard. It wasn’t until this moment that the Virginia rapper started to see his track getting mainstream attention. It started getting picked up by major radio stations and getting more and more exposure. Bey was the one that exposed a lot of people to this track. Even the YouTube comments read, “let me be the first to start it. Beyonce brought me here. LOL”
In March, Complex posted a video of D.R.A.M. performing his track throughout New York. In the video we see him start out in a subway, then move into Time Square. Some people didn’t seem to notice or mind, and others took to the track and started to dance in the streets. We even see Elmo and Cookie Monster jamming to the track!
According to DJCity, there may have been issues with the original track and the prominent Super Mario World sample. The track was re-released with a different instrumental. Still having the same vibe, the track certainly does not have the original Nintendo sound. There’s no telling as of now whether there were legal and copyright issues with the track, but that is one theory floating as to why the track was re-released with a different instrumental. Check out the video shot in New York and the official music video to hear the difference in the tracks below.
With D.R.A.M. still an emerging artist, we’re interested in seeing his growth and what projects he’ll be working on next. For now, we’ll vibe out to this one!
