Nicki Minaj is having a hard time dealing with the fact that “Anaconda” didn’t get nominated for MTV’s VMAs Video of the Year. Nicki Minaj has been ranting on Twitter all afternoon about why her hit singles “Anaconda” or “Feeling Myself” wasn’t nominated. In her tweets she says “If I was a different “kind” of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of year as well.” Pretty much saying that MTV is judging her for being a female rapper and being lesser because of her “sex sells” type of style. Which, if that’s true, it’s total crap because did you see who they’re letting host the MTV VMA’s no other than Miley Cyrus.
Nicki goes on to say “U couldn’t go on social media w/o seeing people doing the cover art, choreo, outfits for Halloween… an impact like that & no VOTY nomination?” Which is true you have to remember your phone being plastered with Niki’s booty for months. It honestly doesn’t make sense why “Anaconda” isn’t nominated for Video Music Awards she literally performed that song at the last VMA’s and if it wasn’t good for ratings they wouldn’t had let her perform it. And “Anaconda” has the same amount of quality of some of the other videos nominated for Video Of The Year which includes “7-11” by Beyonce, “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, “Bad Blood” by Taylor Swift ft Kendrick Lamar, “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars and “Alright” by Kendrick Lamar.
Minaj in another tweet makes her case by saying “When the “other” girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.” Which she has a point when “Anaconda” hit Vevo and YouTube it managed to get 19.6 million views on the first day. Which was a new record for Vevo. Numbers don’t lie, she did an amazing job on the choreography that has been reperformed all over the internet. How could MTV not want any of Nicki Minaj?
